ABOUT ABOUT

In partnership with Villa Musica, Art of Élan is thrilled to present the San Diego debut of The Wiancko/Mizrahi Duo, featuring violinist Michi Wiancko and pianist Michael Mizrahi in an exciting program of works by Franz Schubert, Philip Glass, Arnold Schoenberg, John Adams, John Cage, and several composers from the New York-based New Amsterdam Records, a record label that specializes in music without filters, made by musicians who bring the breadth of their listening experience and the love they have for many different kinds of music into their own playing, writing, and producing – essentially music without walls.

Over the past year, Art of Élan has developed a bi-coastal conversation with artists from New Amsterdam Records, presenting numerous collaborative productions and working to affect cultural change on both coasts. Additional New Amsterdam collaborations this season include a special CROSSFIRE show at The Glashaus on Nov. 29th, a FREE community concert featuring NOW Ensemble at The San Diego Museum of Art on May 9th, and a collaboration with Malashock Dance on June 1st-3rd at the Lyceum Theatre.

About The Wiancko/Mizrahi Duo:

Praised as "intrepid" (Philadelphia Inquirer), "engaging" (Houston Chronicle), and "endlessly fascinating" (WQXR New York), pianist Michael Mizrahi has won acclaim for his compelling performances of a wide-ranging repertoire and his ability to connect with audiences of all ages. He has appeared as concerto soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, and teaching artist across the United States and abroad.
